Time for an Introduction I started to war-game with a friend in Jr High School back in the 1960's. We made good use of the toy department at WT Grants Department Store. In those days, ROCO mini tanks were sold for around 50 cents. They also had plastic 1/72 scale planes and model ships. We did it all for the 3 years in Jr High. I continued wargaming all through high school and then entered the ROTC program in college. There I met Joe Fish ( pancerni@fish tales.blogspot) and began a friendship that has lasted since 1970. A tour as an Infantry Officer in Germany led to a lot of solo games. During those times I kept a record of all the games thinking that at some point I would consolidate them into a narrative for my own pleasure. Long about 1985 or so I created a fictitious country in the Atlantic that I called Dahara. The name was derived from names of places on my other hobby, a model railroad All of the games I played, ...
PLOT PLAN and BUY When the wife tells you to curtail your hobby activities, especially your painting, it doesn't signify the end of the world. You can still plot and plan and when the iron is hot you can strike and buy for the future. I had wanted to add some large terrain pieces to my collection for a long time. I was surfing various sites and came across Parabellum Miniatures. Various buildings that they offer, are perfect for what I wanted. I purchased the above building and a couple of smaller ones that will be used as part of the Confessor's compound in Konigburg the Capital City of Dahara in an ongoing imaginary campaign. I may not be able to paint it now, but it can go into the queue for when I can pick up a brush again.
UNIFORMS OF DAHARA 7 The Guard de Corps The quiet countryside of a late spring day in Dahara is shattered by the sounds of trumpets and thundering hooves. The Guard de Corps, pride of the Army, is on the move towards the battle front with Fuddland. The sunlight shines off their gold cuirasses. Their commanding officer, Count Lubbock, is resplendent with his golden helmet topped with a bold red comb. His trumpeter, Max, is in reversed colors with a white comb. He does not ride a grey horse. The Guard rides a matched set of Black horses from the Master's Stud. Their tack is bold red. Daharan Blue tunics with red facings clothe all of the regiment. Other ranks wear black combs on their golden helmets. Soon Fuddland will tumble to the sound of the guard approaching!
