The Second Regiment of Light Dragoons

The Second Dragoons are sponsored by the Junior Steward of the Order of the Prophet.  They are the third cavalry regiment in seniority within the Cavalry Arm of the Daharan Field Army.  They follow the Guard de Corps and the 1st Dragoons.

Again, their uniform is based on the ceremonial robes of the Steward.  They wear black coats with yellow facings shown in collar, cuffs, lapels and turnbacks,  Yellow trousers with a black stripe are worn both in the field and garrison.  Black Tarelton helmets with a yellow plume complete the uniform.  

Belts are white, the cartridge box is black.  They are equipped with a straight saber and a model 1800 Daharan carbine.  

The saddle cloth is black with yellow scalloped edging.  The sale is red leather.  Canteens are light blue and a brown leather bread bag is carried.

The figures were patched together from Perry Plastic British Light Dragoon parts that my war-game partner Joe gave me.  The same parts produced the 1st Dragoons show in the prior post.

Next up will be a post about upcoming features and projects for 2024 as well as delving into modern Daharan in 1/700, 20mm, and 6mm scales.

    Another triumph of haberdashery! Good to see the Daharan forces step off the page and onto the table. I think your blog is now ahead in total posts for a year compared to mine for at least 4 of the years of the 12 posting has occurred.

 UNIFORMS OF DAHARA !st Battalion of the 1st Regiment of Foot 1801-1803  Finally Server J Error returned to the Capital City with an image of the 1stBn/1stReg of Foot.  This unit was instrumental in the famous Battles of the Bridges, which took place in the newly won Northern Territory of the Imagined Dahara.  For these actions the 1/1 Foot was given the honorific of "The Pratorians" by the Master of Dahara Benjamin Kardeef. This unit was the first to receive its colors in recognition of meritorious service.  The color is Daharan Blue field with the Daharan Compass of the Light on the Obverse and a Crowned Stylized K for the House of Kardeef on the Reverse. The 1/1 Foot is dressed in coats of Daharan Blue with red facings shown on collar,  cuffs, lapels, and turn backs.  Calfskin packs are suspended from white webbing.  Black cartridge boxes, bayonet scabbards and leather bread pouches complete the uniform.   TRAITOR EXECUTED Server J. Error was executed on the orders of Major General Ruelle Pressman.   Error, was formerly the esteemed mapmaker of Dahara.  He was unveiled as being an agent of Fuddland after his maps for the current offensive were seen to be wildly inaccurate. He intentionally turned the maps for the western part of the offensive 90 degrees to the west.  This caused the 2nd Field force of the Prophet to become hopelessly out of position in its march towards the objectives of the campaign. Pressman officiated at the execution which was carried out by riflemen of the 1st Light Battalion assisted by gunners of the 1st Battery of the Imperial Artillery.  Pressman hopes that this will prevent other traitors from attempting to hinder the armed forces of Dahara.

Plans for 2024

  PLANS FOR 2024 Back in 2022, I decided to formulate a plan to deal with my "Pile of Shame/Opportunity" that  had accumulated over time.  I made a list of all of the minis that I had unpainted at the time.  I then divided it up into project lists.  These would be final unit numbers.  For example, a project could be a unit of 12 infantry figures, or 8 cavalry figures etc.  To my surprise, and shock, it  totaled 205 units.  Not daunted, I made the goal of painting 1,000 minis.  Well, I ended up finishing 1,050.  Would be more but I count a cavalry figure as one not two. Fast forward to 2023.  I have added considerably more to the "Pile".  Then real life got in the way with my knee getting replaced in January.  Not feeling much like painting what with a rigorous PT schedule.
